Nicholas Delaney - hero or villain?

Picture
The 1798 pikeman, Wexford

Nicholas was sentenced to death for murdering two Government supporters during the Irish Rebellion of 1798.

After months in a stinking gaol he was reprieved and transported to New South Wales.

As a convict labourer and overseer, he built some of Australia's oldest roads.

Later he married and became a farmer and innkeeper and a pioneer settler west of the daunting Blue Mountains.
